Umbria is a small region of central Italy, one of the few not to have direct access to the seas around the Italian peninsula. A region rich in scenery and culture could not offer typical products of absolute quality. In Umbria is essential good food and good drink. Prince of the table is definitely the Umbrian truffles, "gouged" in almost the entire region with special honor reserved for those of Norcia. Fundamental in local cooking is extra virgin olive oil, derived from the cultivar "Moraiolo", "Leccino" and "Frantoio". Emerald green, fragrant and slightly spicy, the Umbrian extra virgin olive oil is recognized around the world for its unique and unmistakable features.
In typical Umbrian dishes never fail mushrooms, as Porcini mushrooms, artichokes, garden vegetables, sheep's cheese and cold cuts, which stem from the wisdom accumulated over the centuries in the processing of meat.
Other excellent food are the Cannara onions, red potato of Colfiorito, used in the production of particular handmade pasta like "gnocchi"; cicerchia, and the famous lentils of Castelluccio di Norcia.
Land generous also for wine, excellent Orvieto classic among whites. Sagrantino di Montefalco stands , unique and unmistakable, among red wines.
